Eastbourne Canine Society Open Show 2013 Critique

My thanks to this society for the invitation to judge, my friendly and efficient steward who looked after me well and to the exhibitors who brought their dogs for me to go over.  It was a  quality entry and without exception the dogs were handled and presented beautifully.

Puppy 1(0)

1st - Lucas and Dargonne’s Packway Comanche Moon - 11month old lovely male.  At that leggy stage and not always co-operating with his handler.  Beautiful head, dark eye, correct scissor bite, neat small, well set, dark ears, good strong neck.  Correct  well laid shoulders..  Strong, compact  knuckled feet.  Good depth of chest and  spring of rib, with well muscled loin.   Correct fallaway and plenty of length from hip to hock. Developing his mature harsh coat. He moved around the ring with drive and purpose and maintained his topline on the move. Best Puppy.

Junior 2 (0)

1st - Finnett & Heathcote’s Shagiead Mrs Bridges - 16 month old beautiful dark close coated bitch, with lovely head and dark eye. Small well set ears. Correct scissor bite.   Good length of neck onto correct shoulder and front.  Compact well knuckled feet.    Good depth of chest and spring of rib. Elegant quarters with plenty of length and low set hocks.  Lovely topline which she maintained on the move.  She moved with purpose and drive.

2nd - Lyndorthwin Ethel Grey.  16 month old bitch with a elegant head, neat dark nicely set ears. Good length of neck.  Correct scissor bite, dark eye and a presence often not seen in one so young.  She has a correct front and well laid shoulder, compact, knuckled  strong feet when she stood correctly, although she found the surface in the silica sand indoor riding school very offputting.  Plenty of bone, good depth of chest and lovely tuck up into strong broad quarters. Her movement was hampered by her obvious dislike of the strange, to her, surface.

PostGraduate 1 (0)

1st - Wilson’s Hamiltonhill One Vision - 5 year old bitch.  Pretty compact lady with elegant head, dark eye and small nicely set, ears.  Correct scissor bite.  Good reach of neck onto well laod
shoulder.  Dark coat. Good length, well balanced with lovely topline into broad quarters. Moved well.

Open 3 (2)

1st - Finnett and Heathcote’s Hyndsight A Girl Like You.  A  dark mature almost 2 years old bitch, who has been shown very little and was a touch uncoperative at times.   She has a beautiful head so typical of this kennel, with dark eyes and neat small ears. Correct scissor bite.  Good length of neck onto well laid shoulders.  Well boned.  Compact well knucked feet. Thick, close lying dark coat.     When she  settled and stood correctly she displayed a good depth of chest, spring of rib and tuck up.  Strong, broad quarters which she used to demonstrate her ability to move with easy long strides, almost floating around the ring.   Shown in fit, hard condition. Best of Breed.
